Work on Phase II starting in September 2025, the Ministry of Public Works Ensures that Phase I Phase I School Facilities remain maintained

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) will soon begin the construction of Phase II People’s School (SR) in September 2025. While preparing the project, the government ensures that all educational facilities at phase I now used will continue to be well maintained to ensure the sustainability of teaching and learning activities.

This affirmation was conveyed directly by the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo when reviewing the Phase 1A People’s School at Prof. Dr. Soeharso, Bantul, DI Yogyakarta, on Monday (11/8/2025). This visit aims to ensure that all existing facilities can function optimally until the second phase of the project is completed.

“We want to ensure that the available school facilities have a long service life, at least until the Phase II People’s School is completed, because later the current school (phase I) will move all,” Minister Dody said on the sidelines of his review.

During his visit, Minister Dody examined in detail every corner of the school, ranging from classrooms, feasibility of tables and chairs, space lighting, to male and female dormitories. Minister Dody even took time to enter several classes to see firsthand the teaching and learning process and dialogue with students.

To Minister Dody’s disciples said that learning is the key to the future. “Use this facility as well as possible, please guard together and keep the spirit of learning,” ordered Minister Dody.

Not only learning facilities, Minister Dody also paid special attention to supporting facilities such as sanitation and environmental cleanliness. According to him, a healthy and comfortable environment is an important foundation for forming good student character.

“Cleanliness is part of character education. We want children to grow in a healthy, safe, and comfortable environment,” he said after checking the toilet and ventilation facilities in the student dormitory.

For information, Prof. Integrated Center Dr. Soeharso in Bantul is one of 63 the first phase of the people’s school locations. The facility which was previously an asset of the Ministry of Social Affairs was renovated by the Ministry of Public Works on May 10 to July 8, 2025. Since July 14, 2025, this school has actively accommodated 200 high school students divided into 10 study groups.

Furthermore, Minister Dody confirmed that the Phase II People’s School Development Project will begin in September 2025 and is targeted to be completely completed in July 2026.

The government’s commitment to maintain temporary facilities while working on this second phase of project is a guarantee that access to education for the community will not be disrupted. Thus, efforts to ensure that phase I people’s school facilities are maintained into an important bridge before the phase II megaprojects are fully realized.
