Good News, Government Gives 10,176 Cheap Train Tickets in North Sumatra for Eid Homecoming 2026

The government together with KAI Divre I North Sumatra are offering 10,176 train tickets with a 30% discount for the 2026 Eid homecoming period 14–29 March. The Medan–Rantau Prapat fare is now IDR 119,000 to support community mobility during Idul Fitri 1447 H.

The government has officially strengthened the national economic stimulus in the first quarter of 2026 through an incentive policy for train transportation fares ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. Through this scheme, the authorities have set a price relaxation of 30 percent for travel for the period 14–29 March 2026 as a strategy to maintain public purchasing power and manage national mobility during the Eid momentum.

Plt. Public Relations Manager of KAI Divre I North Sumatra, Anwar Yuli Prastyo, stated that his party was committed to carrying out the 2026 Eid Al-Fitr Transport assignment optimally. “In order to support this stimulus policy, KAI in the North Sumatra region is providing 10,176 seats which can be used by residents during the homecoming transportation period,” said Anwar.

Tens of thousands of tickets with special discounts were allocated to the Sribilah Utama Facultative KA economy class service for the Medan – Rantau Prapat (PP) connection. This policy is expected to equalize access to transportation for all levels of society in the region.

Every day, 636 promo seats are available, divided evenly between two departure points in North Sumatra. A total of 318 seats are intended for departures from Medan Station, while the remaining 318 quota seats are available for routes from Rantau Prapat Station.

“Thanks to this incentive, the price of an economy class ticket for the Sribilah Utama Facultative Train, which is normally IDR 170,000, is now IDR 119,000. This fare adjustment is a real help for travelers who want to celebrate Idul Fitri in their hometown without being burdened by high transportation costs,” he added.

In its operations, the Sribilah Utama Facultative Train carries a series consisting of two business class trains and three economy class trains. The total carrying capacity in one trip reaches 446 passengers to accommodate the high demand for land transportation.

Prospective passengers can now make reservations via the Access by KAI application or the official booking.kai.id page. Apart from that, purchasing access is also opened through other sales partners (official channels) who have collaborated with the company.

“KAI Divre I North Sumatra fully supports this economic stimulus as a strategic step to encourage the movement of citizens. Through more affordable fares, we are optimistic that the tourism sector will also be boosted and the economic growth trend in North Sumatra will remain stable during the long holiday period,” concluded Anwar.
