KAI Daop 1 Jakarta Serves 1.61 Million Passengers During 2025/2026 Christmas Transport
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 1 Jakarta recorded that it had served 1,613,370 passengers during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) transportation period from 18 December 2025 to 4 January 2026. This number is the accumulation of departing and arriving passengers for both Long Distance Trains (KA JJ) and Local Trains.
Public Relations Manager for Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, said that of the total, the number of departing passengers was recorded at 812,789 passengers, consisting of 704,233 long-distance train passengers and 108,566 local train passengers. Meanwhile, the number of arriving passengers reached 800,581 passengers, with details of 694,262 long-distance train passengers and 106,319 local train passengers.
Franoto added that the number of long-distance train passengers departing during the 2025/2026 Nataru Transport was recorded to have increased by around 10 percent compared to the realization of the 2024/2025 Nataru Transport which reached 736,363 passengers.
A similar increase also occurred in local train services, with the number of departing passengers increasing by around 10 percent compared to the 2024/2025 Christmas period which was recorded at 95,483 passengers.
Meanwhile, the overall level of seating (occupancy) during the Nataru Transport period reached 90 percent of the total capacity provided.
The highest peak of departures occurred on 24 December 2025 with 46,907 passengers, while the highest peak of arrivals was recorded on 4 January 2026 with 47,695 passengers. On January 4 2026, the highest accumulated density level of departing and arriving passengers reached 87,137 passengers.
During the Nataru Transport period, KAI Daop 1 Jakarta operated 1,732 train trips, an increase of around 10 percent compared to the previous year’s Nataru period.
Specifically on January 4 2026, the number of Long Distance Train and Local Train passengers departing from the Daop 1 Jakarta area was recorded at 46,041 passengers, while arriving passengers reached 54,251 passengers. For long-distance trains alone, the number of departing passengers reached 39,442 passengers and 47,695 arriving passengers.
Several stations with the highest passenger volumes on January 4 included Pasar Senen (up 14,981, down 14,996 passengers), Gambir (up 11,032, down 15,438 passengers), Bekasi (up 6,922, down 6,611 passengers), and Jatinegara (up 2,537, down 4,977 passengers).
Cumulatively during the Christmas period, December 18 2025-January 4 2026, the three stations with the highest long-distance train passenger volumes were Pasar Senen with 272,321 boarding passengers and 244,008 alighting passengers, Gambir with 222,470 boarding passengers and 210,972 alighting passengers, and Bekasi with 101,836 boarding passengers and 102,483 alighting passengers.
For the Pangrango and Siliwangi Local Train services, on January 4 2026, 6,599 passengers boarded and 6,556 passengers alighted. Cumulatively during the period 18 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, Local Trains served 108,566 boarding passengers and 106,319 alighting passengers, with the three busiest stations namely Sukabumi, Bogor Paledang and Cibadak.
Apart from that, the fare discount program also received a positive response from the public. In the Daop 1 Jakarta area, tickets with a 30 percent transportation discount were sold as many as 364 thousand tickets, while tickets for the YES DEAL program with a 25 percent discount were sold as many as 19 thousand tickets.
