AI Connect for Literacy Activists in Aceh, Highlights the Role of AI in Writing
AI Connect for Literacy Activists at Telkom AI Connect Aceh presented 68 participants in a discussion about how AI can help the writing process, from exploring ideas to visualizing work. This activity encourages understanding that AI can be a creative partner without reducing the author’s originality, and closes with writing challenges, peer review and mentoring to strengthen digital literacy in Aceh.
An atmosphere full of enthusiasm colored the “AI Connect for Literacy Activists” which was held at Telkom AI Connect Aceh with the literacy community. This forum is an exciting place for literacy activists to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can be a friend and challenge in the world of writing (30/9/2025).
This event was held by hybridwith 30 participants attending directly at Telkom AI Connect Aceh and 38 other participants taking part in person on line via Zoom Meeting. The warm discussion and curiosity of the participants made the session hybrid it feels alive, both on location and on the Zoom screen.
The activity opened with remarks from Hayatullah Pase, Chair of the Aceh Writing Forum (FAMe). Two main speakers were present to provide in-depth insight into the use of AI in the world of literacy. The main speaker, Boy Kurniawan, an activist and AI Engineer from the WeCanDev Community, discussed engineering encouragement to maximize AI in finding ideas, arranging writing flow, and visualizing written results by using it equipment ChatGPT that has been customized according to the author’s character and style.
Apart from presenting the material, participants had the opportunity to discuss and ask questions directly in interactive sessions. This discussion is an important space for reflection for writers, the literacy community, and society at large to understand how AI can be a creative partner, not a threat, in the writing process.
This activity was attended by members of the Aceh Writing Forum (FAMe), the Aceh Literacy Activist Community Forum (FKPLA), as well as general participants who were interested in the development of digital literacy.
“AI opens up new opportunities in writing, from helping to organize ideas to enriching vocabulary. However, it is also important for literacy activists to maintain originality and a personal touch in their work,” said Journalist JH, Business Community Lead of Telkom AI Connect Aceh.
Through AI Connect for Literacy Activists, it is hoped that a collective understanding of digital literacy will emerge, ethical awareness of the use of AI, as well as practical strategies for using technology to strengthen the quality of literacy in Aceh and Indonesia. As a follow-up, participants were given the challenge of writing works using free AI tools, peer reviewing each other, and getting access to mentoring from instructors. This step is expected to become a new foothold for creative literacy that maintains the originality of work in the digital era.
