Postpartum Recovery: What Moms Need to Know and Prepare

For nine months, all attention is devoted to pregnancy and preparation for childbirth. But there’s one important chapter that’s often not covered in enough depth: what happens after the baby is born.

Postpartum recovery, or the postpartum period, is a journey in itself that requires as much preparation and understanding as the pregnancy itself.

What Happens to the Body in the Postpartum Period?

As soon as the baby is born, the body immediately begins a long recovery process. The uterus, which was the size of a small watermelon for 9 months, will start to shrink again. This process is called uterine involution and usually takes 6-8 weeks.

Bleeding (lochia)

This is not menstruation, but the expulsion of remaining tissue and blood from the uterus. It starts out bright red, then turns lighter within a few weeks. If the bleeding suddenly becomes heavier or smells bad, immediately consult a doctor or midwife.

Perineal pain

Very common, especially if there is a tear or episiotomy during normal delivery. Ice cubes wrapped in cloth, sitting on a donut pillow, and sitz baths can help reduce discomfort.

For cesarean recovery

There are surgical wounds that need to be kept clean. Moving up and down from bed and sitting up straight will feel very difficult in the first weeks.

Emotional Changes That Need to Be Prepared for

Baby blues

Experienced by around 70-80% of new mothers. Symptoms include crying easily, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or suddenly sad for no apparent reason. This usually appears in the first few days after delivery and gets better on its own within 1-2 weeks.

Postpartum depression (PPD)

Different from baby blues. It’s more intense, lasts longer, and can interfere with your ability to care for yourself and your baby. If feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or loss of interest last more than two weeks, talk to a doctor. PPD is treatable, and asking for help is not a sign of weakness.

How to Prepare Yourself Now

Build a concrete support system.

Who will help with cooking? Who can look after the baby while you sleep for a few hours? Don’t wait until you are exhausted to ask for help. Plan now.

Prepare a stock of nutritious food.

Cook in large quantities and freeze in the last month of pregnancy. Soup, frozen rice, ready-to-eat side dishes, or nutritious snacks that are easy to eat with one hand will be helpful.

Learn the basics of breastfeeding.

If you want to breastfeed, take a lactation class or read about proper latching techniques before the baby is born. Breastfeeding is a learned skill, not an automatic instinct.

Give yourself permission.

Permission to not be the perfect mother right away. Permission to cry. Permitting took longer than expected. Permission to accept help without feeling guilty.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone

Postpartum recovery can feel like a very lonely moment, amidst all the excitement around you. Many mothers feel uncomfortable admitting that this time is difficult.

But this is heavy. And its weight can be acknowledged.

Talk to your partner, family or friends you trust. Join a new mom community. Or contact a professional if you feel you need it. A village that supports you not only for the baby, but also for you.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
