Exploration of taste: the best culinary and wine from the area of O’Higgins, Chile

Famous for its abundant agricultural products, this region is not just a producer of world -quality fruits and grapes, but also offers unexpected potential to combine beautifully with the local taste of the archipelago.

On July 29, 2025, the fragrant aroma of spices and grapes filled the air in the Indonesian Electrolux show kitchen show. This is where Prochile – Chile’s Trade Commissions in Indonesia – held Experience of Food & Wine Couples which celebrates the harmony of the continent cross: from Chile to Indonesia.

With a modern kitchen background and an intimate atmosphere, guests are invited to explore the wealth of the taste of the Central Valley, especially the O’Higgins region which is now a new star in the world culinary map.

O’Higgins: From fresh fruit to award winner

With an area of more than 16,000 square kilometers and a population of nearly one million people, O’Higgins contributed about 42% of the total exports of Chile fresh fruit – with cherries as the main commodity (61% of national exports), followed by plums, apples, peaches, kiwi, and table wine.

In 2024 alone, the value of fruit exports from this region penetrated USD 3.5 billion, marking impressive growth of 40%.

But O’Higgins’s wealth did not stop in the fruit. This region is also home to a variety of wine varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère from the Valley of Colchagua and Cachapoal – known as unique terroir that produces strong and elegant character wine.

“It has become our mission to introduce agricultural wealth from the O’Higgins region to the public, especially through products that are increasingly in demand in the Indonesian market,” said Patricio Parraguez Bravo, Chile’s Trade Commissioner in Indonesia.
