KAI Daop 2 Bandung Serves 92 thousand Long Distance Train Customers During the 2026 Chinese New Year Long Weekend


Bandung (West Java), February 2026 – A total of 92,049 customers used long-distance train services with departures from the working area of ​​PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operation Area 2 Bandung during the long weekend period for the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday. The transportation period lasted for five days, from Friday (13/2) to Tuesday (17/2), with the volume of customers showing the high interest of the public in traveling using train transportation.

During this period, KAI Daop 2 Bandung provided a total of 67,510 seats for long-distance train travel. Of this number, occupancy was recorded at 136.3 percent. This figure shows the high mobility of society, where one seat can be occupied by more than one customer in a five-day period, in line with the dynamic travel patterns of customers during long holidays.

This high occupancy reflects public confidence in safe, comfortable and timely train services. Apart from that, people use the momentum of the Chinese New Year holiday to stay in touch with family and travel to various favorite destinations.

KAI Daop 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager, Kuswardojo, said that the high occupancy during the Chinese New Year long weekend had been anticipated through optimizing facilities, infrastructure and the readiness of officers in the field. “We ensure that all train trips run safely, smoothly and on time. We have anticipated an increase in customer volume during the long holiday period with optimal operational arrangements,” he said.

The seven stations with the highest passenger mobility in the Daop 2 Bandung area during the long weekend period are dominated by stations that serve up and down long-distance train passengers. For departures, the highest volume was recorded at Bandung Station with 29,969 customers, followed by Kiaracondong with 15,663 customers, Cianjur with 11,065 customers, Tasikmalaya with 7,383 customers, Cipatat with 6,709 customers, Garut with 3,930 customers and Banjar with 3,909 customers.

Meanwhile, for customer arrivals, Bandung Station also recorded the highest figure with 29,342 customers. Next is Kiaracondong with 15,233 customers, Cianjur with 11,798 customers, Tasikmalaya with 8,008 customers, Cipatat with 6,589 customers, Garut with 4,170 customers, and Banjar with 3,875 customers.

The high mobility rate at Bandung and Kiaracondong stations shows the strategic role of these two stations as the main nodes of rail transportation in the West Java region. Meanwhile, other stations such as Cianjur, Tasikmalaya, Cipatat, Garut and Banjar also experienced significant increases in line with the high travel needs of the public during the long holiday period.
