KAI DIVRE III PALEMBANG Anticipates Extreme Weather, Maintain Plot Railroad tracks


Palembang, July 21, 2025-The current uncertain weather conditions, with hot weather and sometimes it suddenly rains is expected to continue for the next few weeks. Responding to this, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Palembang Regional Division III continues to increase vigilance and carry out several mitigation and anticipate disasters, especially in vulnerable areas due to land contours and regional geographical conditions.

Palembang Palembang KAI Divre III Public Relations Manager, Aida Suryanti said that up to now the train operations in the Palembang Divre III region continue to operate as usual, both passenger trains and freight trains. Anticipating the potential impact of extreme hot weather in vulnerable areas continues to be increased, anticipation of changes in soil contours that can cause movement or collapse along the train path. In addition, hot air temperatures can affect the existing rail road conditions.

“Based on the results of the mapping of KAI infrastructure officers, there are several locations including vulnerable areas, landslide -prone locations and collapsed including road plots between Niru – Belimbing Station, Penimbing Naga, Mount Megung, Panggiran – Ujanmas, Sugar -Muara Sugar, Muara Enim – Muara Lawai, Merapi – Sukacinta, Lahat – Bunga Mas, Bunga Mas – Saung Naga, Tebing Tingg Padang City-Lubuk Linggau.

As an anticipatory effort, KAI Divre III Palembang has prepared several steps taken, such as carrying out management of safety walkthrough (MSWT) in the road plot that is watched by direct examination of infrastructure, signaling, notes or equipment systems, preparing amus (material for alert) in 23 points of location and railroad checks routinely by manually walking by officers in the field so that the potential problems arising in the field can be monitored as early as possible.

In addition, KAI Divre III Palembang also prepares heavy equipment such as excavators and MTT (Multi Tie Tamper), which are tools in railroad maintenance to speed up the process of repairing the railroad lane in the event of unwanted things the impact of extreme weather conditions and installation of retaining walls (DPT) in the form of gabion construction to prevent landslides/collapsed in disaster prone areas.
