OJK releases crypto levies, push acceleration of ecosystem growth

The Financial Services Authority (OJK) officially released the obligations of levies against the Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets Industry (IAKD) who have pocketed permits, throughout 2025. This policy is considered as an affirmative step aimed at encouraging the growth of the digital asset -based financial technology sector in Indonesia.

Head of Executive Supervisory Supervisory Technology in the Financial Sector and IAKD OJK, Hasan Fawzi, said that this decision was taken after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Finance.

The policy considers the condition of the digital asset industry that is still in the early stages of development, as well as the need to create an inclusive and sustainable ecosystem.

“Adjustment of the levies is based on the consideration that the OJK is developing the IAKD industry nationally. In addition to we also see the conditions in general the IAKD industry which is currently still in the initial stage of development and also the initial stage of preparing for its operational activities,” Hasan said at a press conference, July 8, 2025.

OJK set a levy rate of 0 percent for 2025, and will impose a gradual increase in the following years. OJK levies previously covered various costs such as licensing, approval, supervision, and securities transactions.

Tokocrypto CEO, Calvin Kizana, welcomed this policy as a signal of regulatory support for the digital asset industry in Indonesia.

According to him, this exemption policy provides flexibility for crypto industry players, especially exchange or crypto buying and selling platforms that are still in the early stages of development of operational services and infrastructure.

“We welcome the policy of the OJK. At present, we consider this policy to be a catalyst for growth for all stakeholders of the crypto industry in Indonesia,” Calvin said.
