“The Blueprint” by Noir Sur Blanc and Popomangun present at Ashta District 8

In the middle of the city rhythm that never stops, Ashta District 8 again presents space to stop for a moment, to touch, feel, and connect through works made by hand and soul.

As part of the arts program and themed activity ArtlinesCollaboration between Black on white and visual artists Popomangun back in present Blueprint. An exploration between textiles and personal narratives, this installation is not only about clothing, but about how each thread can bring us to arrange our own stories.

Inspired by the art of pottery, The Blueprint reflects the transformation process. From the ground to a container, from thread to clothing. Each piece is designed to be customized, giving space for the wearer to not only wear clothes, but also created it.

This work is reflected in two important elements:

Flying Tiger Manual Machine From the 90s, a manual knitting machine that revived the “friction” technique which is now rare.

Lindie Cikan Linking MachineThe round connecting machine that knit the cloth pieces into a whole unit without eliminating the beauty and flexibility of the fabric.

Through this exhibition, Ashta District 8 gave a stage for Indonesian knitting techniques that began to be forgotten. These machines are not just a means of production, they are a symbol of perseverance, precision, and quality that is built slowly but last long.

The Blueprint will be present as an interactive installation from July 21 to August 3, 2025 in Ashta District 8. Visitors can enjoy a series of activities such as:

– Visual Popomangun Installation which combines tribal motifs with texture textile

– The creative process behind the Sur Blanc Noir Collection

– Personalization booth, live knitting, live painting, to fashion showcases that can be enjoyed up close

The launch event will take place on July 26, 2025, presenting direct experience with the works and creators. Through Artlines, Ashta District 8 continues to create space that gives more meaning than just aesthetics. Because we believe, the best art is born from connection. Between the past and the present, between hands and stories, between clothes and souls that wear them.
